Today’s High rating means your skin is at high risk from UV exposure.

You should be aware of the risks posed by UV Radiation when outdoors. Follow these simple steps:

    1. Minimize your exposure to the sun between 10am and 4pm
    2. When outdoors, cover up with a hat and sunglasses as well as covering exposed skin
    3. If outdoors for extended periods, apply sunscreen every 3 hours

If you intend to spend time on the water, snow, in sandy areas or deserts, be aware that reflective surfaces can increase the effects of UV rays and risk posed to your skin and eyes. Alcohol consumption in the sun can increase your risk to burn due to increased dehydration of your skin, the loss of awareness and underestimation of time.

* Burn time is related to SPF & UV rating. Example: With UV rating of 10 minutes to burn, a person wearing a SPF of 15 has 2 ½ hours of protection. (10 minutes. X 15 = 150 minutes or 2 ½ hrs) until re-application.
