Photoart_0117The launch of Clinuvel’s New Media channels mark the start of an exciting era in the company’s evolution. Although online information channels are not strictly part of classical pharmaceutical development, I believe that direct communication with drug developers will become the norm in our industry as part of greater accountability and transparency. Looking ahead, I wish to see Clinuvel in a leading position, not only by the progressive development of our ‘orphan drug’ afamelanotide, but also in the way we are communicating to the world.

Over the past 18 months the Clinuvel team has answered to a large audience of patients, physicians and shareholders, and the demand for relevant information is expected to grow; this launch of new online channels will allow instant information flow, all within the boundaries of allowed disclosure.

Based in Australia, we are in a unique position to have attracted leading institutional investors to support us in breaking new ground. With novelty comes risk, and I believe that we are steadily decreasing the operational risk of the company. Understanding the complexity of our development by using quantification models won’t assist here, but providing relevant news through a variety of channels will.

An additional objective is to communicate how Clinuvel will eventually manage the balance between administering a drug for most urgent clinical demand in smaller but severe diseases, while providing meaningful returns on investment to our long-term supporters and shareholders. Certainly a complex challenge, but one in which we will succeed.

In a defining year when Clinuvel’s pivotal phase III trial in porphyria is coming to an end, new media will assure fast information flow. Clinuvel’s new communication channels will give insight in clinical progress, stock performance and our core knowledge on environment, UV and health.
